from a dream (2024)
//created at a month long residency with LIOS-Labs in Pustynia Bledowska, Poland.
In a dream, I approached myself, stitching together the fabric of an enormously elongated dress. Wet from her sweat, She hung it to dry on a wire hanger and placed it on a windowsill of a second-floor window. It was just short of five meters, and yet it did not reach the ground. She told me I would need to find a ladder if I wanted to wear it.
I needed to find a ladder—
In the desert, I made my dress of dreams, and in the surrounding birch forest, I found my ladder. Raised to darkened clouds, the dress rehydrated. I have worn it; while in my dream, I only dreamt of wearing it. Now the dress dances within the desert’s storms, embraced by birdsong and waits to be worn once more.
