Wet from her sweat, She hung it to dry on a wire hanger and placed it on a windowsill of a second-floor window. It was just short of five meters, and yet it did not reach the ground. She told me I would need to find a ladder if I wanted to wear it.&nbsp; I needed to find a ladder—A public art installation and performative sculpture in Bledowska Desert, Poland. Constructed out of 5m long birch trees from thesurrounding forests and repurposed bed sheets from the local thrift shop. From a fresh birch branch and a mesh fabric I found buried in the sand, I crafted a colander. For 3 days I sifted andshifted the sand through this colander, removing all the impurities and larger sand granules. What didn’t pass throughthe mesh fabric I set aside on the periphery of my working ground, forming a circle with an approximate diameter of 4 meters. In the near area I found some a termite-eaten log and a weathered cement block with rusted metal, (forest and mining leftovers from the past century) and placed them next to the circle of sifted-sand. Ernest accepted my invitation and performed an improvised dancewith(in) the landscape, sand and found items. Image above is a still form a video documentation of his improvised dance.Both and a small fraction of the making of the installationand screened both in an exhibition called Festival of future deserts in Magdeburg in Germany. The Videoprojections were installed in a former water-filtering cellar that was filled with dirt and sand. A time travel of the mind, a ceremony of obsessive repetition. All one and the same but also different. There is nothing there, or there is, only there is something in the way making it hard to define. Themist obscures, the invisible becomes visible and the visible is forgotten. Years in a second was my graduation work from the Iceland University of the Arts, the work was exhibited at BEING, the graduate students’ spring exhibition at the Reykjavik Art Museum Kjarvalsstaðir. Hoping for the best, at peace with the worst was part of a series of solo exhibitions of graduating fine art students of Icelandic University of the Arts. The exhibition evolved around the subject of time and its relation to themes such as distopias and utopias, medetation gardens, ecocentrism, hoplessness and acceptance towards the effect of climate change. Guests had the chance to scribble on the surface of the box by removing the condensation.
